Barrel #1

Valerie Henrich

Valerie Henrich is a local (Oswego) artist turning her hobbies in art and photography into creations to share.  Since her retirement as an elementary school teacher, she has been pursuing her creative passions by studying art in several media.

Val calls herself an "aspiring artist" and a "lifelong learner".  She takes classes at workshops locally and in Door County, WI, at her favorite school "The Clearing".  She has been a member of both the Aurora Art League and the Kendall Arts Guild.

Often traveling with a camera at hand, Val finds new ways to see things around us in our daily life...tranquil moments, spots of beauty, or other images she describes as "poetic photography".  Her favorite subjects are always of the natural world.  Her artwork can be found in several shops and galleries locally.

Heidi Miller

Heidi writes:

My curiosity and love of creating art began at a young age.  My passion for learning about the art world and creating art was on going throughout my education in public school and college.  With every new art class and technique I acquired, my creativity grew and expanded.  With my knowledge of art and my drive to teach and share the fun of art creativity with others, I received my Art Education degree from Northern Illinois University.

In my art I like to focus on the undisturbed and fascination compositions that are found in nature.  I enjoy capturing the calmness that nature provides outside the hectic and noisy everyday life.

I enjoy working with many different types of media in my art.  What I enjoy the most is capturing a great picture or taking different materials and seeing how they work together to create an interesting final work.

Barrel #3

Stacey Packer

Stacey is an 8th grade student at Yorkville Middle School.  She believes that there are a variety of things people can do to conserve or protect natural resources.  These things include using reusable products, riding a bike to work or school and using biodegradable materials.  She feels that through doing things like this, and utilizing a rain barrel, people can truly help to conserve our natural resources.
Barrel #4

Adrienne Smith

Adrienne Smith is a professional artist residing in Oswego.  She has a B.S. in fine art from Illinois State University and a B.F.A. from the School of Art Institute of Chicago.  Her home-based business, Adrienne Smith Fine Art, specializes in custom framing, original paintings and wheel thrown ceramics.  Growing up as a member of the Morton Arboretum instilled in her a love of nature.  Adrienne has also had an interest in conservation since childhood.  She enjoys volunteering her time and talent to Little Friends Inc. in Naperville.  She also volunteers as a docent at the Farnsworth House in Plano.
Barrel #5
